I recently spent a delightful night at Aurinkomaja, a cozy retreat tucked away near the ski lift. Despite the summer lull, our late arrival was handled thoughtfully by our gracious hosts, who left the keys right where we could find them-a small detail that made a world of difference. Our cabin was well-equipped and comfortable, featuring both a kitchen and a sauna. The kitchen had the essentials for anyone keen on self-catering, though I did wish for clearer instructions on the stove and combined oven/microwave. After exploring the picturesque trails surrounding the resort, we opted for a midnight beer outside. It was quite the experience, albeit the mosquitoes were quite relentless! While I didn't partake in the restaurant's full offerings, it did have a laid-back ambiance that promised casual dining. To top it off, the proximity to the Ica supermarket over the Swedish border made it easy for stocking up on snacks and essentials. All in all, Aurinkomaja made for a pleasant getaway, and I imagine it would be even more charming when the ski season brings back its full vibrancy.
